The Unhurried Olive Tree
At the base of the hills where soft shadows play,
An olive tree stands, old and olive gray,
Its roots reach down through soil so deep.
No hurried hand has bent its will,
No transient storm, no passing thrill;
It grows and grows,
So slow the seasons hardly show.
Its leaves, silvered, reach out so long,
Have known the world’s harsh right and wrong.
In unhurried whispers, burdens shed,
Of patience in the paths we tread.
Take refuge in its shade,
Where wars of men and moments fade.
For here, beneath its ancient grace,
You’ll find the stillness time can’t chase.
